By Air

Ruzyn is the city airport of Prague. It is about 20 km from the city center. If you are coming from Europe, most major cities have direct flights to Prague. The airport is very modern and convenient. It has everything a tourist or businessmen would ever need such as restaurants, money exchange, ATM bank machines, rental car companies, convenient post office, and even a 24 hour luggage deposit service.

From the airport, it is very easy to get into Prague. You can rent a car (watch out for traffic), go on the underground or bus, and start your tour with a tram ride to the city main square.

If you decide to take a taxi, make sure you agree with the price before getting in. There are also mini buses or vans that can take you anywhere in Prague.

By Train

There is this fantastic Czech Railway that you can ride from most major European points. It is a most scenic route to Prague and you can enjoy spectacular views and a relaxing ride complete with all the modern amenities of a train.

The Hlavn Train Station is the busiest and biggest train station in the city. If you want to travel by train express, all you need to do is pay a certain surcharge fee. If you would rather take the leisurely ride (more recommendable for tourists), than opt for the plain train ticket. You can pay extra for a sleeper or couchette. However reservations are advisable since they can get fully booked during peak seasons.

By Car

You have to be at least 18 years old to drive in Prague and children under 12 have to sit in the back seats. For most European countries, your driver’s license would be sufficient, but for other countries like in Australia and Asia, you will need an International Driver’s license.

Driving a car in Prague can be an exhilarating experience in dodging. There is a fascinating art to the driving skills of Prague drivers. On one hand, it can be a challenge to get from point A to point B. On the other hand, you just might decide to park and walk because of the traffic.
When talking about parking, well, that’s another challenge. If you get lucky and easily find a good parking slot, make sure to lock your doors and keep all valuable out of sight.

By Coach

The main bus terminal is called Florenc and you can easily get to it by metro. Riding the bus can be an arduous trip because of the travel time, plus it may not always be comfortable. You need to buy a ticket in advance to make sure you get a seat on the coach.

When traveling to Prague, there are ways to find good deals in airfare. One, book your flight early. Two, the flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are usually cheaper than the other days. Three, try to fly from major cities which offer better deals than flying in from the smaller European cities.
